Guess what?? We scored a new, totally futuristic venue in Lakeview: Sura Thai Bistro. Some people think it’s a cross between something out of 2001: A Space Odyssey and A Clockwork Orange, but we can all agreeit’s a pretty awesome space to be doing a weekly residency.

One night a month we’ll bring in established national and
international DJs and producers doing cool things with electronics:
“Flight Deck.” The other nights will be “Launch Pad” featuring
locally-based up and coming artists.

Blue Sky Remixes is a collection of reworkings…rethinkings…remixings of Emulsion’s highly acclaimed CD Blue Sky Objective by some of electronic musics brightest, taste-making talents! Included are tracks from Caural (Mush, Chocolate Industries, Consumers Research & Development), Strategy (Kranky, ORAC, Community Library), Isan (Morr Music, Darla), Outputmessage (Ghostly, Melodic, Echelon) and Bovaflux (Highpoint Lowlife). Each remixer was asked personally by Emulsion’s Nathan Koch to provide a unique approach to his tracks and all of the artists featured did just that. Blue Sky Remixes is a diverse and unique collection of tracks that are sure to be considered some of the best electronic mixes of the year.

I’ve been gathering together some deep and dark ambient techno material of my own over the last few months, and I’ll showcase it on Sunday. Relax and enjoy the sounds of electronic and acoustic musicians and related visuals projected on the Ice Max Theater. Tonight, Jonah Sharp and Tycho perform with visuals provided by Video Janitor and ISO50. Recording extensively as Spacetime Continuum, Edinburgh, Scotland native Jonah Sharp is an ambient music innovator. He helped define the ’90s with his soon to be revived Reflective Records imprint and its original sound of global experimental ambient and techno scene fusion. As Tycho, San Francisco based artist and producer Scott Hansen blends swirling melodies into vaguely triumphant arcs that criss cross between stuttering beats and vocal sampling, creating rolling sonic landscapes that extend off into the horizon. Ramp Chicago djs between sets.
